Over the next six months, CITY GRIT is going on the road, as Sarah cooks special dinners all around the country!
CITY GRIT at BUTCHER & BEE in Charleston, SC
For those of you who don’t know, Sarah Simmons, recently named one of America’s Greatest New Cooks by FOOD + WINE Magazine, is chef and founder of CITY GRIT, a culinary salon in New York refered to as an "Off Broadway" James Beard House by The New York Times.
CITY GRIT hosts unique dinners prepared by visiting guest chefs or by Sarah herself! While the menu is constantly shifting, Sarah’s Southern roots shine through in every CITY GRIT experience. Her dishes are always Southern-inspired, whether she’s cooking a traditional Sunday supper, a dim sum feast or a Shabbat dinner.
Sarah recently hosted “Obanzai Omakase,” sold-out tasting menu featuring dishes she would make if she were to open a Japanese tapas restaurant, known as an obanzai, in Tokyo! Sarah cooked tradition to the curb and prepared an obanzai menu featuring her innovative Southern-inspired Japanese fare.
On April 11, Sarah is traveling all the way to Charleston to cook an encore dinner at Butcher and Bee! You won’t want to miss this chance to try Sarah’s Southern twist on Japanese dishes.
